Topaz Trilogy is a sterling silver jewelry set, consisting of a pair of earrings, a necklace and a bracelet. This is the second part - necklace. A bit curled up on the photo, it measures about 15,5 inches (40 cm), clasp included. The chain part is HP3-1, 0,7/3mm silver rings used. The "pendant" is a 7mm round faceted topaz (heated) gemstone, wrapped/set in maille - a modification of my standard setting. Hope you like it, comments and criticism much appreciated.
Do you mind saying what weaves you used? I tend to use a variation of boxchain for my necklaces, and I have no idea how you captured the topas in the pendant.
Also (and I'm going to be brash here, sorry if it's too rude) how do you manage to sell your work? So far I havn't had any luck with flea markets or the internet... I'm just curious how you do it
Judging from the favs, you seem to like my general style of weaving. That is a great compliment for my works, thank you for that.
As for the weaves used: The chain part is plain old Half Persian 3in1, one of my all time favourite chain weaves. The pendant part is much more tricky to explain - it started as byzantine once, and ended up like it is today, going near inverted round somewhere in the process. I promised a dozen of people to write a tutorial for that setting, I can't find the time though.
I am not in the least offended by the selling question, especially I live in Poland, so our interests are rather not going to clash:> The internet is for me a secondary source of sales - taking into account the fact, that about 30% Poles have access to it (lowest statistic in the EU...). The best I achieve is using the "friends of friends of friends of friends, and their friends" approach. When my stuff hits the right people I usually have a full line of work for a month or so:> Also, galleries are starting to take interest in my work - that's new to me, seems rather promising.
I've been studying this piece and others like it in your gallery trying to figure out how the setting is done. Eluding to inverted round was a tantalizing clue... I was wondering does the back of the piece mirror the front. I too would really love to learn how you do this setting. Please if you can't find the time for a tutorial please give us some more clues.
Thanks for all the nice words. As for the prices, they are so varied... depending on the stone, weave and type of rings used. If you want to know about something specific, send me a note on it.
When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
A Special Collection of photographs i found this month that still haunts my mind. Show them some love There are always some i can`t include due to space, i try to make the features under 50 deviations to give them better exposure
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
